EXHIBITION OVERVIEW

Discover the origins of our visual art collection, recent acquisitions, and the untold stories behind our national heritage.

Comprising over 8,600 artworks, National Gallery Singapore's collection is the largest institutional collection of modern and contemporary art of Singapore and Southeast Asia in the world.

(Re)collect reveals the stories behind the creation of the collection since the 1960s, and how it continues to evolve today. The collection has been uniquely shaped by the changing landscape of art institutions here, and visionary collectors and numerous exhibitions held by various museums over the years have all left their distinctive marks on it. Uncover the fascinating layers of collecting history through a display of over 120 works, including recent acquisitions and donations that have never been shown before.

Featured artists include Affandi, Georgette Chen, Cheo Chai-Hiang, Latiff Mohidin, Lim Hak Tai, Lim Yew Kuan, Navin Rawanchaikul and S. Sudjojono.
