Scope and Content
In her letter to Chang Yi Ming, Georgette Chen updates on her present situation. She mentions having three courses of cortisone, but the pain returned even more intensely after the treatment stopped. She then switched to gold salt therapy, which did not offer complete relief. Georgette expresses thoughts of settling down in Singapore, noting that the warmth of the tropical shores is kind to her disease and that there is much beauty for her brush. She asks her stepmother to help dispose of her fur coat, which was her wedding gift, and her other furs, which she has sent via Dr. and Mrs. Ho Seng On. Georgette also inquires about other family members. Additionally, she encloses some information about Dr. Ho Seng On, mentioning that he was the former principal of the Methodist Boys’ School in Kuala Lumpur. She notes that her portrait of him, commissioned by some old boys, would hang in the School Auditorium.
