Community Group Visits
As part of the Gallery's commitment to making art accessible to all, the Community and Access (C&A) team engages audiences across diverse cultures and backgrounds, with a focus on the underserved communities who face barriers to visiting the Gallery.
Through initiatives and partnerships, the C&A team uses art as a catalyst for wellbeing, connection, and care, creating positive, tangible impact that supports quality of life beyond the museum visit.
In 2025, the Gallery was designated as Asia’s first Healing Arts Centre of Excellence, affirming its leadership in advancing the role of museums as partners in public health.

Gallery Wonders: Guided Community Group Visits
Available in English & Mandarin | 1–1.5 hours | Group of 10–15 pax
Embark on a guided tour and explore the fascinating stories behind our artworks. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you through our buildings and/or exhibition galleries, offering insights and sparking engaging conversations along the way.
Slow Art Guide (Group Engagement)
Audio tour available in various languages | 20 min | Group of 5–10 pax (up to 2 groups)
Inspired by the principles of slow looking and mindfulness, the Slow Art Guide is a self-guided audio experience of one artwork at the Gallery.
In this group session, participants are invited to go through the audio guide on their own, after which they will be paired up to share and reflect on their experience.
The booklets are only available in English.
HOLDing History
Available in English | 1.5 hours | Group of 8 pax
Experience the National Gallery Singapore through touch, sound, and storytelling. This interactive tour combines an audio-described tour of the Gallery’s historic spaces with a tactile exploration of Raden Saleh’s Boschbrand (Forest Fire). Participants are invited to reflect on change — across time, nature, and our lives today.
HOLDing History is designed with the vision-impaired community in mind but is suitable for people with other access needs. We recommend no more than 8 participants for group tours.
How to Art with Friends
Available in English | For groups of 4–5 pax
Explore the Gallery in your own time. With 10 fun activities that encourage new ways of looking at art, How to Art with Friends is all you need to have a blast at the museum.

Engaging MINDS with Art at the Gallery
2022-2023 | In collaboration with Movement for the Intellectually Disabled (MINDS)
Since 2022, the Gallery has partnered with MINDS to deliver an enriching arts programme for their members, caregivers, staff, and volunteers. Highlights include the Colour Socks Parade 2023, where participants from MINDS Woodlands Employment and Development Centre explored the Gallery Children’s Biennale through guided tours, self-guided visits, and interactive exhibits with My Biennale Buddy.
Additionally, we curated a 4-part learning journey which involved the Highlights of the Gallery Tours, Special Exhibition Tours, the Slow Art Guide, and other self-guided experiences for their members and caregivers. Each activity provides participants with engaging, new perspectives on the visual arts, fostering a deeper appreciation for art and culture.
Art in Every Language with Centre for Domestic Employees
Sept 2022 | In collaboration with Centre for Domestic Employment
The C&A team welcomed 117 staff and volunteers from the Centre for Domestic Employment to take part in curated Highlights of the Gallery Tours in multiple languages. Participants joined tours conducted in their native languages such as English, Bahasa Indonesia, Burmese, and Tagalog, and explored the exhibitions with the How to Art with Friends guide.
Honouring Migrant Workers: A Special Tour for Singapore's 57th Birthday
Aug 2022 | In collaboration with Ministry of Manpower (MOM)
The Care and Engagement Group from MOM collaborated with the C&A team to host 83 migrant brothers and 22 staff for a 1.5-hour Highlights of the Gallery Tours. They explored the newly launched How to Art with Friends guide during their visit, and the engagement was featured on The Straits Times.
Bringing Art to Life for Seniors at St. Luke’s ElderCare
2022–2023 | In collaboration with St. Lukes ElderCare
Seniors, staff, and volunteers from over 20 St. Lukes ElderCare centres enjoyed a day out at the Gallery. Following guided tours conducted in both English and Mandarin, they explored our permanent exhibition at the DBS Singapore Gallery, and the special exhibition, Chua Mia Tee: Directing the Real.
Singapore Cancer Society
2022 & 2023
Art Refresh 2022
National Gallery Singapore and the Singapore Cancer Society collaborated on a six-week pilot research study, Art Refresh, from Aug–Sep 2022. The study aims to examine the effects of art-making and art appreciation sessions for cancer survivors with a range of guided to self-guided experiences, while also evaluating the programme design.

Art Refresh 2023
In 2023, the C&A team collaborated again with the Singapore Cancer Society to conduct a six-week programme with a new cohort of participants, mirroring the pilot study from 2022. The team continued to track the participants’ engagement with the arts and evaluated its impact on their well-being.

Enabling Festival 2022
The Enabling Festival 2022 opened on 23 September 2022 at National Gallery Singapore with the aim of supporting a dementia-friendly Singapore through The Power of Touch. The three-week long festival held at the Keppel Centre for Art Education engaged caregivers, persons living with dementia, and the public through a curated series of workshops and public engagement activities around the theme of “Touch.”
RINDU

RINDU Showcase Volunteers Training
The C&A team conducted our first cross-organisational volunteer training with over 40 volunteers from the Gallery, Harun Ghani Education Fund (HGEF), and Ray of Hope (ROH) to prepare volunteers as Community Hosts.
In December 2021, Community Hosts conducted a one-hour tour of Highlights of the Gallery and the RINDU showcase for beneficiaries of HGEF and ROH.
Healing Arts Centre of Excellence
Conferred by the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), National Gallery Singapore is Asia’s first Healing Arts Centre of Excellence. We are also the first museum in the world to be conferred this accreditation, alongside two other institutions: Carnegie Hall and the Scottish Ballet.
This designation recognises the Gallery’s sustained contributions to arts and health through a holistic suite of inclusive, research-led, and transformative programmes, and affirms the role museums can play in supporting wellbeing and quality of life, particularly for underserved communities.
