Inaugurated in 2018, OUTBOUND reimagines transitional spaces and key entrances at the Gallery through a series of unique artwork commissions, developed in collaboration with leading artists from around the world, to provoke critical reflection, curiosity, and playfulness in our visitors as they traverse the building beyond exhibition galleries while shifting perceptions of what might be considered art.

Eidolon by Vong Phaophanit and Claire Oboussier
National Gallery Singapore presents a new installation by acclaimed London-based artist duo Vong Phaophanit and Claire Oboussier. Situated in the City Hall Courtyard and set against skylight, Eidolon is defined by a simple yet rigorous line that cuts across the interior along a diagonal plane.
Angin Cloud by Art Labor
Angin Cloud imagines the rural industrialisation of a hill side from Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Pairing Jrai wood sculptures and suspended pillars that recall farming structures for growing pepper vine, the installation references ‘angin’, a Jrai concept for the dynamic potential for change found in water and air.
