Crawler Crane Tilted at the Construction Site of the National Art Gallery, Singapore
At approximately 9am this morning, a crawler crane operating at the barricaded section of Coleman Street tilted, resulting in the crane jib landing onto Coleman Street.
There are no injuries or damage to vehicles in the vicinity. The crane was not in operation at the time. Supervisors from Takenaka – Singapore Piling Joint Venture had observed that the crane started to dip early this morning and took action immediately to close off Coleman Street. Hence, when the jib snapped and landed on the road, no workers or vehicles were affected. The incident did not result in any apparent damage to the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings where the construction works were being carried out. Traffic through Coleman Street has been temporarily diverted.
Investigations are on-going to determine the cause of the incident. The Gallery will provide more information as it becomes available.
