- Scope and Content
- In her letter to Rosamonde, Georgette Chen recounts their decision to come to Malaya after receiving no response from her and Chuang Yoeh Foong. She describes their ship journey and the captivating landscape and people of Penang, affectionately referring to Penang as the "Pearl of the East" and the "Paradise of the Earth." Georgette expresses how her life has been enriched by being introduced to durians and describes the tropical fruit and flower trees, as well as the purity of the water. She admires the people's reverence for literature and scholars and considers this period as one of "creative waiting."
