Following its 10th anniversary, National Gallery Singapore has reimagined its iconic two-block logo, rooted in the architecture of the former Supreme Court and City Hall, as functional benches for people to sit, gather and connect. In January 2026, ten sets of Gallery Benches will be placed at iconic locations across Singapore, before returning to the Gallery in February 2026 as resting spots for visitors.
These iconic Gallery Benches are now available for adoption individually or as a pair. By adopting a bench, your generosity will support our work to make the arts accessible for all. All adopters will receive recognition through a customised donor plaque.
This programme invites donors to support the Gallery’s mission of creating accessible and welcoming spaces for all. Through this initiative, individuals and organisations may adopt the Gallery Benches, contributing directly to visitor comfort, community enjoyment, and the enhancement of shared public spaces. Siok Cheng loved the arts and music, and Singapore. Remembering her with this bench allows her loved ones and friends to think of her as they gaze on the historic heart of our country, in what must be one of the best views in town.
We have donated this bench to honor stART, the program that we support at the Gallery. This was designed to provide emotional support and enhance visual and emotional literacy among adolescents and youths aged 13 and above. Art engagement has been proven to be transformative, offering students a unique pathway to self-discovery that often proves more effective than traditional approaches to education.
We believe in stART because we have seen how powerful it can be in helping youth find meaning in their lives. A meaning that comes from within and is not determined by extrinsic grades, success, awards. With Art we can venture into the unknown world, to see the world informed by compassion, wisdom, beauty, understanding and love.
I am so proud that we have reached the NEET kids as well as kids from IMH, and I hope we can continue to involve more youth as stakeholders in our community to enhance emotional and mental wellbeing not only for themselves but for others as well.
Art for us is unquestionably one of the purest elements in life. It’s still generally under-appreciated in Asian societies, so we’d love to play a part in helping our artists find a place and a voice in our country.
