Information and Tips for your visit during our Opening Celebrations.

In conjunction with our Opening Celebrations from 24 November until 6 December, we've planned an exciting line-up of events, programmes and activities for all to enjoy.

Crowds are expected, especially during the weekends, and road closures are planned on 23 Nov and 25 - 29 November, so be sure to read the information and tips below carefully to help plan your visit to the Gallery.

Admissions and Ticketing

  1. Where are the Gallery's entrances located?

The Gallery has two main entrances: the Coleman St. entrance, located along Coleman Street and the Padang Atrium entrance, runs parallel to St. Andrew's Road.

 

  1. Why should I book a ticket before arriving?

Visitors with online tickets will enjoy express entry into the building via our Coleman St. entrance or Padang Atrium entrance during the time slot that they have selected. 

 

  1. Can I get into the Gallery without an online ticket during the Opening Celebrations period?

Visitors without an online ticket can join a queue at the Padang Atrium entrance. Entry into the Gallery will be subject to the volume of visitors within the building at the given time and will be on a first-come-first-served basis. 

 

  1. Do I need additional tickets to enter the exhibitions?

​During our Opening Celebrations, admission tickets are required for entry into our Gallery buildings. Separate tickets are not required for entry into our exhibition galleries once you have entered our buildings. Find out more about our exhibitions here.

 

  1. Does my toddler need a ticket?

Children 6 years and under do not require a ticket for entry.​

 

  1. I booked a ticket for my cousins but they are now unable to go. Can my non-Singaporean friends who are visiting enter with the ‘Local –  Adult’ ticket?

Yes. In case a friend or family member you booked a ticket for is unable to attend our Opening Celebrations, do invite someone else to join regardless of the audience category stated on the ticket.

 

 

Getting Here

  1. Will traffic around the area be affected during the period of festivities?

We strongly encourage visitors attending the Art Carnival to use public transport as there will be various road closures on 23 Nov, 25 – 29 November for the Gallery’s Opening Celebrations, Satay Night Live, and the SG50 Jubilee Big Walk. Refer to below for detailed information on road closures.

  1. What is the best way to reach the Gallery during the Art Carnival (27 - 29 November)?

The nearest MRT stations are City Hall MRT, Raffles Place MRT, or Clarke Quay MRT. Those who exit from City Hall MRT station can begin their art journey via the Art Connector. The sheltered walkway links City Hall MRT station to the Gallery.

There are no extended service hours by the SMRT or SBS Operators during this period. Further information on MRT access to the Gallery can be found here.

The nearest taxi stands are at Funan DigitaLife Mall and Raffles City Shopping Centre.

 

  1. Where are the nearby car park facilities?

Due to the road closures, the Gallery's carpark will be closed on 23, 27 - 29 Noember. The nearby car park facilities are at The Parliament, Funan DigitaLife Mall, Esplanade Theatre, and Raffles City Shopping Centre.

 

 

Events & Programmes

  1. I want to attend one of the free In-Gallery programmes the Gallery is hosting during the Opening Celebrations. Do I need a ticket?

A ticket is required for entry into the building to attend the events. If you would like to attend a particular programme, please book a ticket for the matching time-slot.

Note:

 

  1. Do I need a ticket to attend the Art Carnival?

All programmes taking place at Padang during the Art Carnival, including the Share the Hope façade show, do not require a ticket.

 

  1. I purchased tickets for one of the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) films, do I still need to book a Gallery Ticket for the same day?

All SGIFF patrons will be able to access the Gallery on the day of their screening, upon presentation of their SGIFF ticket.

Please join the designated SGIFF queue at the Gallery's Coleman St. entrance and present your SGIFF ticket for an entry sticker. Tickets can be collected or purchased (cash only) at the same entrance. All SGIFF patrons who turn up at the Padang Atrium entrance will be advised to proceed to the Coleman St. entrance, which is nearest to the Auditorium.

Doors open 15 minutes before each screening. Ticket-holders are strongly advised to arrive at least 30 mins before their screening to make their way to the Auditorium (Level B1) in good time.

From 30 Nov onwards, SGIFF patrons who intend to use the carpark should take the lift at Lobby A (City Hall Wing), to Level 1 to join the SGIFF queue for entry.

 

 

Dining

  1. I want to dine at one of the Gallery’s F&B outlets. Do I need a ticket?

Patrons for F&B outlets will need either a ticket or a reservation to access our F&B outlets.

Patrons with reservations may enter through the following routes:

 

Patrons with reservations only will be welcomed to explore our buildings, but will need to obtain a ticket from the Padang Atrium entrance to enter the Galleries.
