1of1Artworks

Boschbrand (Forest Fire)

The artwork has been deconstructed into multiple tactile layers, from the animals in the foreground to the burning forest in the background. Each layer features a button that plays an audio description of a specific portion of the painting.

Developed in collaboration with Beyond Vision International, the Tactile-Audio Interaction System (TAIS) enables users to progressively build a mental image of the painting.

Trishaw Rider

The artwork has been deconstructed into multiple tactile layers, from the trishaw and hood in the foreground, to the rider playing his nose flute in the midground and, finally, the background.

The colours in the painting have also been represented as different textures in the Tactile Colour System. Developed in collaboration with Beyond Vision International, this Tactile Guide Booklet enables users to progressively build a mental image of the painting.

Serene Jade

1of3Artworks

Serene Jade

This adaptation is a 3D printed replica of the original bronze sculpture. Though the plastic filament used for the adaptation cannot match the actual feel of bronze, it accurately captures the key features of the artwork, including the sculpture’s texture.

Man and Environment

This adaptation features different media that have been used in the original artwork. With the materials laid out into different segments, users can feel the differences in texture that would otherwise be appreciated visually.

Tetrahedron-tetrahedron Interpenetration

1of5Artworks

Tetrahedron-tetrahedron Interpenetration

This adaptation is a fiberglass replica of the original artwork and is roughly half the size of the original (96 × 32 × 32 cm).

To recreate the artwork accurately, 360° high-definition images of the artwork were taken at the Heritage Conservation Centre. These images captured any signs of wear and tear on the surface of the original so that they could be replicated in the adaptation.

Maquette for Tetrahedron-tetrahedron Interpenetration

Maquette for Tetrahedron-tetrahedron Interpenetration

This maquette for Tetrahedron-tetrahedron Interpenetration was generously provided by the artist, Han Sai Por, specifically for the HOLD collection.

A maquette is a sculptor’s preliminary model or sketch. The material, colour and overall design differ drastically from the final artwork, as the artist would normally use maquettes to experiment with different ideas before deciding on the finalised piece.
