A man of many talents, Tchang Ju Chi was a trailblazing painter, cartoonist, graphic designer, and activist. As a key figure in the Chinese diaspora, his work provides a rare and vivid glimpse into everyday life in pre-war Singapore.
Featuring newly conserved and rarely seen paintings, reproduced cartoons, and archival materials, the exhibition Tchang Ju Chi: Tireless Camel reveals the rich layers of his artistic legacy and powerful social commentary. Join exhibition curator Shujuan Lim for an insightful guided tour that delves into Tchang’s influential role in shaping Singapore’s early art scene.

Painting with Light: Festival of International Films on Art
Dedicated to the study and showcase of the moving image, Painting with Light is a film festival that presents artist films, documentaries on art, arthouse cinema and restored classics, which mark important moments in art history. The festival’s special focus on Southeast Asian artmaking is evident in a diverse selection of works from the region, including titles newly commissioned and restored by the Gallery, designed to create dialogue between the moving image art of Southeast Asia and the world.
