Known as an architectural icon where rich heritage meets modern aesthetics, the Gallery offers a refreshing, climate-controlled haven away from the tropical sun. This summer, it features a curated series of immersive, interactive installations and artistic experiences tailored for children and families. It’s one of the most rewarding things to do with kids in Singapore this season, especially when the heat makes outdoor plans hard to keep. This guide will lead you into this magnificent historic landmark for an unforgettable summer journey filled with discovery and creative inspiration.

Beat the Heat: Explore Interactive Art in a Historic Haven

Housed within the restored former Supreme Court and City Hall, the Gallery greets visitors with soaring domes and dappled light that evokes an immediate sense of serenity. Thoughtfully placed throughout the galleries, large-scale interactive installations break the old rule that art in museums can only be seen, never touched.

Visitors are invited to step inside the art and become part of the experience itself. From light-and-shadow spaces that transform with your every step to visually captivating, deconstructive mazes, these installations offer endless opportunities for parents and children to explore together. Here, art transcends distant observation to become an engaging, multi-sensory adventure — providing a striking, artfully designed backdrop for memorable family photos.

Keppel Centre for Art Education: Immersive Artistic Discovery

A highlight for any visiting family, the Keppel Centre for Art Education is a dedicated, must-visit hub for parents and children. Far from a superficial play area, it offers an immersive space that seamlessly blends aesthetic discovery with rich educational value. It’s one of the most popular kids activities at the Gallery, purpose-built for hands-on learning.

The Centre features several hands-on interactive zones designed to spark creativity:

  • Digital Art Studio: Children use digital media to bring vibrant creations to life, observing how visual elements fluidly transform and move across digital canvases.
  • Spatial Construction & Deconstruction: Using specialised geometric building blocks, families can collaborate to bring designs of miniature architecture and futuristic cities to life in three dimensions.
  • Sensory Exploration Workshop: Through multisensory interactions with varied textures, sounds, and colors, children are encouraged to use their senses to explore the multi-dimensional nature of artistic expression.

Here, discovery knows no bounds, allowing adults to rediscover the simple joy of creation through their children's eyes. After all, the best family journeys are defined not by the number of sights visited, but by the shared, inspiring moments experienced together.

Admission to the Keppel Centre for Art Education is free; select special activities or workshops may require advance registration or separate ticketing.
