Join us for an exclusive evening tour of Passion is Volcanic: Desire in Southeast Asian Art (R18) led by curator Adele Tan.

Bringing together rarely seen works from Singapore’s National Collection alongside significant regional loans, Passion is Volcanic reveals how desire has long been a powerful force in shaping artistic expression, cultural narratives, and lived experience across the region.

This after-hours session foregrounds the exploration of desire, sexuality, and physical attraction that have shapedin artistic practices across Southeast Asia. Through close encounters with selected artworks, we will delve into different depictions of longing, pleasure, and intimacy, challenging familiar notions of the erotic and considering how these expressions intersect with broader social and political realities.

Please note that the curator tour is open to visitors aged 18 and above only. Valid ID may be required for age verification at the entrance.

The programme will take place after exhibition opening hours, and is exclusive to a maximum of 20 participants.

To preserve the experience, photography and videography are not permitted within the exhibition space.
