“Seek first to be unique, and then to be excellent.” – Ink master Liu Kuo-sung once shared these words with his students, encouraging them to keep experimentation at the very heart of artistic creation.
Artist Lee Chun-Yi studied under Liu Kuo-sung at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, before pursuing a doctorate degree at Arizona State University, and later returned to Taiwan to pursue his artistic career. As one of Liu’s most accomplished students, Lee draws on the traditional art of stone-rubbing and inscriptions to develop an ink technique entirely his own: by varying the pressure and direction of cork stamping, he controls the density and moisture of the ink to conjure layered mountain ranges.
This lecture invites artist Lee Chun-Yi to share his own artistic explorations and reflections in Chinese ink. Departing from Liu Kuo-sung’s pedagogy and ink experimentation, he will offer a fresh interpretation of a defining ideal in classical Chinese painting: “poetry within painting, and painting within poetry”.

“先求异，再求好”——水墨大师刘国松曾以此寄语学生，鼓励他们把实验精神视为艺术创作的核心。
艺术家李君毅早年就读于香港中文大学，师承刘国松，其后远赴美国亚利桑那州立大学攻读博士学位，再返回台湾开展艺术事业。作为刘老的得意门生，李君毅的作品汲取了传统碑帖拓本的艺术形式，并发展出独具个人风格的水墨技法——他通过调整软木压印的力度和方向，掌控水墨的浓淡干湿，以此创作出连绵起伏的层叠山峦。
本次讲座特邀李君毅，以刘国松的教育理念和水墨革新为起点，分享自身的水墨探索与创作理念，以及他对中国传统画中“诗中有画，画中有诗”这一美学境界的重新阐述。
