Led by artist and calligrapher Dr Irene S. M. Lee, this hands-on workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of Chinese ink through motifs central to He Xiangning's artistic practice, including flowers, birds and animals.
Participants will be guided through basic brush techniques, composition of Chinese ink while exploring the symbolic meanings associated with traditional Chinese ink art. Drawing inspiration from He Xiangning's artistic world, participants will create a personalised work, translating their own thoughts and chosen motifs into a meaningful artwork.
The workshop aims to provide participants with an accessible introduction to Chinese ink traditions while fostering a deeper appreciation of the artistic and cultural practices that shaped He Xiangning's work.
