The UOB Southeast Asia Gallery is temporarily closed and will reopen in late 2027. In the meantime, works from the National Collection remain exhibited across the Gallery.

Erotica in the Museum turns to moments of desire, memory, and love that resonate through the exhibition Passion is Volcanic (R18).

Developed and facilitated by artist collective syrup, this intimate 2.5-hour gathering invites a series of activations and offerings across the exhibition as well as the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery. From reading an artwork and making a lexicon to physical explorations of the body, we will explore the erotic as a form of embodied knowledge and personal agency, allowing desire, vulnerability, and intuition to guide us through resistance and reclamation.

Please note that this programme is for participants aged 18 and above who identify as femme.

About the Facilitator

syrup emerged from the coming together of five artists from Singapore – Ruby Jayaseelan, Sonia Kwek, Salty Xi Jie Ng, ila, and Hasyimah Harith – whose individual practices each engage with the erotic in distinct yet resonant ways. Forming a dynamic collective, syrup was born out of a shared interest and belief in the erotic as a site of inquiry, expression, and transformation, bringing together a multiplicity of approaches across performance, movement, sound, and social practices. Their convergence creates a fluid platform for these practices to intersect, fostering a space that is both collaborative and exploratory.
