Light to Night Singapore 2026: “The Power in Us”

Light to Night Singapore 2026 marks the 10th edition of the festival, and for the first time, it will extend across four weekends from 9 to 31 January 2026.

With the theme of “The Power in Us,” the festival returns to celebrate the collective strength that emerges when people and communities come together to reflect, converse and create with the help of art. This edition explores how the power of unity can shape shared experiences and spark new possibilities. Audiences can look forward to interactive art installations, façade projections, performances and programmes that invite them to take part in the festival in unexpected ways.

Artists and collaborators will respond to the theme by addressing three core concepts:
“Memory and Modernity in Dialogue: Negotiating Pasts and Presents” explores how history, heritage and tradition continue to shape contemporary life.
“Crafting Unity from Duality: The Synthesis of Opposites” presents the concept of "duality" not as one of conflict, but as a unifying force that can create something entirely new and transcendent.
“From Spectator to Co-Creator: The Rise of Participatory and Socially Engaged Art” throws a spotlight on community-centred and participatory artistic practices and engagements across Singapore, Southeast Asia and beyond.

Spearheaded by National Gallery Singapore, programme collaborators for this edition include the Asian Civilisations Museum, Esplanade—Theatres on the Bay, Funan, CQ @ Clarke Quay, Plaza Singapura, Raffles City Singapore, The Arts House, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, as well as Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall. During the festival, these institutions located in the historical Civic District will demonstrate the transformative potential of art.

Light to Night Singapore 2026 complements the Gallery’s major exhibitions, including Fear No Power: Women Imagining Otherwise, featuring the artistic practices of five remarkable Southeast Asian women artists, and Into the Modern: Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the largest showcase of French Impressionism ever presented in Southeast Asia.

Join us as Light to Night Singapore celebrates its milestone 10th edition as it illuminates the Civic District from 9 to 31 January 2026. Spanning four weekends, this expanded edition offers vibrant and meaningful encounters throughout the day and night, inviting festival-goers to return, reconnect and experience the festival and precinct through shared moments and fresh perspectives.

The festival theme for this year, “The Power in Us,” celebrates the collective strength that emerges when artists, communities and people come together with the help of art. By bringing together artists from Singapore and the region to collaborate with diverse communities, and inviting audiences to participate as co-creators, this edition highlights how shared authorship, dialogue, and reflection can deepen connections and foster a sense of collective ownership.
