In this online edition of the exhibition, follow his stories on the pivotal moments in Singapore’s past, from the swearing-in of the nation’s first president to the unveiling of the national flag and anthem in 1959.
Through Awang’s eyes, witness the transformation of City Hall from a seat of power to its present role as a wing of National Gallery Singapore.
Explore the seven-part Memories section below, where former civil servants who once worked within these historic walls share their personal stories and thoughts of City Hall.
Finally, learn about history through an artistic perspective with our audio guides and guided tour experiences when you visit the Gallery.
