ArunDitha
ArunDitha is a Eurasian and South Asian diaspora poet and performing artist. ArunDitha works with poetry as constructed and deconstructed images. In both constructed and deconstructed contexts, the poems can take shape as text, sound and movement. Her work has been shared and performed widely in a variety of settings in Singapore and around the world, including TEDx Singapore, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay (Singapore), the Barcelona International Poetry Festival, Wonderfruit (Thailand), Literarisches Colloquium Berlin and The Watermill Center (New York).
In her residency project entitled Rame-Rame, ArunDitha explores sound and movement montage as a way to address the liberation that lies in being part of the crowd, as well as the plurality of the identities which exist in our country. In the final presentation, Butoh dance and looped spoken word are woven together. It is only in this dissolution of one’s ethnic identity that we all become part of this Southeast Asian body of sound and song that, while fragmented, is also shared by all of us.
