A casual platform for art advocacy, Artsplaining introduces and fosters art appreciation by engaging individuals from various industries and backgrounds who may not have direct ties to the arts, thus establishing relatability and connections between the art and non-art worlds.
Through thoughtful conversations and witty interpretations, our featured guests reflect on how the works in National Gallery Singapore relate to different industries and non-art spheres. Equal parts offbeat and accessible, this programme is perfect for anyone curious about the visual arts! This time, Artsplaining is collaborating with the Resonates with Residency (RWR) Programme to showcase RWR artists and their creative process leading up to their final performance during the festival.
Come by to hear Dapheny Chen’s perspective on her residency and how it influenced the artwork that she chose as the inspiration for performance.

Biography
Dapheny Chen is an independent dance artist whose practice moves between choreography, education and arts administration. She explores movement as a way of thinking—using choreography to examine attention, labour and precision through the body. Chen’s works foreground subtle transformation and quiet presence, often engaging task-based structures and everyday materials. Chen’s ongoing inquiry integrates documentation and research, centring care, reflection and the sustainability of dance as a living embodied practice.See their work at the Festival
