This is home (for the arts) truly 🏛️🇸🇬 As the excitement of National Day preparations buzzes just outside our doors at the Padang, we’re taking a step indoors to slow down in the Gallery. Formerly known as the Supreme Court and City Hall, these two national monuments make a serene and beautiful home for our many artworks. Been meaning to visit? Come by and soak up the stories, art and history that lie within our walls. ‼️The Gallery will be closed on 8-10 August due to NDP preparations. We’ll be back to our usual daily hours, 10am to 7pm, right after!

You might be carrying an important piece of art with you right now 👀 Hidden on the back of Singapore’s $50 dollar note, Cheong Soo Pieng’s “Drying Salted Fish” features a nostalgic scene of fish being dried out in the sun, a common sight from the 1940s to 60s. One more month to see this artwork in person before the “Layer by Layer” exhibition closes. Admission is free for all 🐟

See the typically quiet and still Rotunda come to life with artworks from the “OPEN END” exhibition 📚 Dive into the archives and explore the legacy of Singapore’s first independent contemporary art centre (@the_substation) through text-based compositions, video installations and soundscapes. “OPEN END: Resonate, Re-Read and Re-Trace The Substation Archive” runs still 4 December. Happy one year and a little bit more to this amazing pair! 🤪 Hahaha this set has been sitting in my to-post pile for way too long but here we are! This wedding was such a super chill one that we literally had a "pre-wedding" shoot prior to the dinner. Featuring pieces from our National Collection, the show poses the question “Siapa Nama Kamu?” or “What is your name?”, inviting us to look at Singapore through its art. Meet the Wild Child, a young boy who is wild about nature. From tiny animals to ginormous plants, his quest is to protect and care for them all. One day, he spots a gloomy scene that tells the story of a wild tale where animals are being chased by flames to the edge of a cliff. Full of zeal and hope, the Wild Child uses his wildly creative ideas to change the ending of the tale.
