Adopt a Gallery Bench
Following its 10th anniversary, National Gallery Singapore has reimagined its iconic logo as functional benches for people to sit, gather and connect. In Jan 2026, ten sets of Gallery Benches will be placed at iconic locations across Singapore, before returning to the Gallery in Feb 2026 as resting spots for visitors. These iconic Gallery Benches are now available for adoption individually or as a pair. By adopting a bench, your generosity will support our work to make the arts accessible for all. All adopters will receive recognition through a customised donor plaque.
Diplomacy and Desire: Basoeki Abdullah in Singapore
Once described as "the Rembrandt of the East," Basoeki Abdullah (1915‒1993) achieved international fame when he won an art contest held for the coronation of Queen Juliana of Amsterdam in 1948. His artworks can be found in national collections across Southeast Asia. The exhibition invites us to consider the “power” of art in postcolonial Southeast Asia and to see this prominent portraitist anew.

This programme of screenings and associated performances offers a deeper study of the social context and relationships that shaped Impressionism including interactions between artists and their exchanges with the art establishment and collectors of the time
